Patrick's Birthday Cakes

Patrick turned eight in June and got two birthday cakes (and two parties). I am quite proud of the spiderman cake. I didn't leave myself enough time to decorate the R2D2 cake, but will include it here anyway.

Spectacular Spiderman

So, today was Patrick's 8th birthday. There was great debate as to what his cake should be. Finally I just went with the one I had the time to make. Will be making him a second cake this weekend when we have his party in Port Alberni.

Mia's 6th Birthday

This year it was all about Tinkerbell. I was really happy with how this cake turned out, with two exceptions. The eyes were kinda freaky, and I measured the top of the pan instead of the bottom of the pan so the image was too large for the cake, but it all worked out and tasted great.

Sarah Coll's Baby Shower Cake

I had a lot of fun making this cake. *I am aware that there is a spelling mistake but it was intentional. When they had their ultrasound done the technician spelled it that way, so I was asked to put it on the cake. The booties, roses and bows were made from gum paste. The cake is four layers (chocolate and vanilla) with buttercream icing.

The Kids' 2008 Birthday Cakes

2008 is the first year I really tried to decorate cakes for the kids. Mia got a polka dot cake, and Patrick's cake is supposed to be a piece of yellow lego. They turned out pretty cute, but I am really looking forward to making their cakes this year, and coming up with something really creative.

Andy's Birthday Cake

I made this cake for Andy's 32nd birthday. I was really happy with how this one turned out. It was the cake that started me thinking about decorating cakes. This is the logo for the company he works for.

Stork Cake

I made this cake for a baby shower for a lady at our church. It didn't turn out the way I hoped for, but it was still cute. There are things I will do differently the next time I do a transfer. And I don't think I will ever use royal icing again, because it spreads out too much before drying.

Diaper Shirt Cake

This is a really fun, and easy cake to decorate. There are endless possibilities of how it can be done. I think this is one that I will be making a lot of.

. . .

I am an amateur cake decorator, and I am loving every minute of it. I am planning to post a picture of every cake I decorate. I am also going to use this blog to show some of my creations as well.
